DRINK ONE, SAVE ONE, GIVE ONE
As part of our commitment to provide the world’s best-tasting and most sustainable water, we have developed our Drink one, Save One, Give One program. In this initiative, FloWater plans to provide underserved communities with clean, fresh drinking water.
The program will be focusing on low income schools in metro Northern and Southern California as well as Phoenix. The FloWater team will also be looking at non-profit organizations for potential partnerships.
Our education vertical and the various schools and campuses we hydrate are extremely important to us at FloWater. Specifically, students’ wellness and the correlation between hydration and numerous factors such as productivity, brain function, and fatigue are health factors that students should never be affected by because of the lack of high-quality water. A recent Harvard study found that more than 50% of U.S. students don’t drink enough water. Today, there’s a shift happening in schools across the country, both from a health and sustainability perspective. While various schools are encouraging students to drink water instead of sugary beverages, in many cases they are not providing their students with clean drinking water on tap. In fact, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that one in five California schools found water with lead levels that exceed the federal standard. When students actually have access to clean drinking water, they tend to avoid sugary beverages and choose water. A recent survey found that 83% of students at Malibu Highschool report drinking less of other beverages now that FloWater is on campus.
Years of research have found that drinking enough water can improve concentration, balance mood, and reduce stress. Students that have access to FloWater report having more energy, more focus, and fewer headaches! On the contrary, dehydration can lead to poor concentration, fatigue, and obesity, among many other issues. At FloWater, we want to ensure that students across America have access to clean drinking water to combat the negative impacts of dehydration, while also avoiding plastic pollution from bottled water.
We are excited to announce the first recipient of the Give One Program to Peres Elementary School.
Located in Richmond CA, 97% of students at Peres Elementary rely on free or reduced lunches, and most students do not have access to purified water while at school. We partnered with The Conscious Kitchen, who works with sponsors to bring healthy lunch alternatives to the children attending the school. It only made sense that these children should not only have fresh and healthy food options but water as well. The lights shine brightly from the FloWater Refill Stations that now sits in the cafeteria of Peres Elementary. The Conscious Kitchen provides low income schools with healthy, organic lunches to overcome health disparities that take an unfair toll on children living in low-income households. Thanks to The Conscious Kitchen and FloWater’s Give One Program, the 500+ students of Peres Elementary school now have access to clean drinking water and a years worth of healthy lunches!
