Bringing Clean Water to Flint, MI

As part of our commitment to provide the best tasting water in the world, minus the plastic waste, we’re also working to provide communities in need with FloWater. Using FloWater’s 7x Advanced Purification Technology, we are able to take contaminated water from the source and provide areas in need with the cleanest water on the market.

In 2016 we took to Flint, Michigan to aid in the water crisis.

The water crisis in Flint remains a major public health issue today but began in 2014 when the source for the water was changed to the Flint River. Due to insufficient water treatment, lead was leached from pipes to the drinking water, exposing over 100,000 people to toxic levels of lead. Flint residents were instructed to use only bottled or filtered water for drinking, cooking, cleaning, and bathing. Though the water quality has been recently deemed as “acceptable”, residents of Flint are still being instructed to continue the use of bottled or filtered water until the pipes have been replaced.

Not only is plastic bottled water detrimental to the environment, but residents of Flint have been forced to rely on this alternative that is 2000x the price compared to tap water. At FloWater, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to access clean drinking water. We wanted to make sure that the residents of Flint had the same opportunity (and free access) to the cleanest, best tasting water in the world in public areas across the city.  In 2016 we donated eight FloWater Refill Stations in various spots in Flint. From a local school to the police department, locations fitted with FloWater finally allowed Flint residents to drink from the source water without fear.

“I cannot thank you enough. The FloWater Refill Stations are in full use 100% of the time. Several people have said ‘I’m drinking more water because I now feel it is safe.’

Despite the attention to the water crisis in Flint, there are still places in the city where the drinking water is not safe. Our work in Flint is not done. Contact us to help Flint.
